'12 DEC: Heil Family Christmas

We love Christmas time. Our kids were especially involved this year as they helped decorate our Seoul apartment and pick out little presents for each other at the local version of a dollar store. Of course, Konane sat contentedly most of the time, but Mika and Coby were bubbling over with excitement and generosity. We even got to attend a banquet for the faculty at Mark's school--all dressed up and lovely.

As soon as Christmas break began, we jumped on a jet across the world to Dallas, Texas, where we spent a special 10 days with the entire Heil family: mom and dad, Scott and Charlene with their kids, and Angela and Darrell (her boyfriend). Every day was an event, every moment picture-worthy. Plus, with perfect weather and American food available at every meal, we were certainly feeling blessed. We thank God for this time with family.

After celebrating with the Heils, we flew to Hawaii for our third Christmas commemoration--in Hawaii with Malia's family. What an incredible blessing to see all our extended family in one vacation! We enjoyed ourselves, and the kids laughed and danced and learned to ride bikes (with training wheels).

In each place, we realized that the core of our joy and togetherness is Jesus Christ. He is the center of our family of five, and He has also been the foundation of our lives from childhood. We're thankful for parents who seek God and pray for us to continue serving and loving Him as we now raise our own children...and that overseas.
